Only a few more hours to listen to the songs a few hundred more times, do my breathing exercices, practice my screams, drink my warm tea & honey, perfect my autograph skills, etc, etc, etc. See you all tonight!

What a blast!

I can't begin to tell how much fun this has been for me to reunite with this great group of men. We were like brothers 30 years ago and we are again. It has been a pleasure to work with these fine musicians. We are going to rock the hell out of Spring Valley Saturday night!

Rush Excerpt

Ok-So here's an excerpt of our impromptu playing yesterday of Temples of Syrinx by Rush. This was the song I auditioned for Steve with when we first met. I got neutered yesterday before practice so I could sing this.

Yes friends-an actual recording of a vocal by Frank DOES actually exist! Here's Rock & Roll Suzie from last Saturday, a Pat Travers tune.

Stoney Dunlap 1962-2008

Ever since we decided to do this I've been looking for my old friend Stoney (Jack) Dunlap, who came to many of our shows back in the day & was a big fan, cuz I knew he'd love to attend. I've been able to find little hints of his whereabouts but never able to fully track him down.

Today, unfortunately, I did. Rest In Peace my friend & God bless.

Off The Cuff

So I'll be honest-As a Christian I have some conflicts in posting this audio and wouldn't play it in concert. However-in the interest of posting some audio that is totally raw & off the cuff, here is ACDC's Highway to Hell, played spontaneously during our 1/30/10 practice. We have never played this before so this is without any practice whatsoever, now or 30 years ago, as you can tell by the hectic ending. However, pretty good for no practice!

As a disclaimer-THIS IS FOR ROCK & ROLL PURPOSES ONLY & HAS NO RELATION TO THE SINGER'S ACTUAL BELIEFS.

http://www.archive.org/details/HighwayToHell
Just wanted to give a shout-out to all my Santana High School friends from last night & those that couldn't make it as well. Looking forward to seeing all of you next month at the show-get your shots!!!

Feb 26th Practice

So we missed Jim last night (with his UGLY flu situation) but had a productive practice anyway, sans the bottom end. One month to go exactly, and we are fine tuning & just about ready. We could honestly do a show right now, but with another month we will be awesome (well at least in our minds).

We all wish Jim a speedy recovery & look forward to next Saturday with our rhythm section & UFO vocals intact.

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

http://www.archive.org/details/SandmanSnippet
http://www.archive.org/details/RosieSnippet

So Steve was out of town last weekend so Jim & I just got together to work on background vocals. Here's a small sample of a couple of our new songs we started working on during our last practice a couple weeks ago.

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Original Scene of the Crime(s)

Anyone that knew us 30 years ago-look familiar?? Complete with outdoor urinal (at least on Friday & Saturday nights).

Monday, February 15, 2010

The lyrics to 40 songs is a lot to remember when I can barely remember last week. I'm just sayin.

http://www.archive.org/details/OverTheMountain

Frank had to leave early on Saturday so here's Ozzy's Over The Mountain without rhythm/backing guitar-Only lead guitar, drums, bass, & vocals. RAW BABY!!!!!!
So we have decided to scrap Bad Girlfriend by Theory of a Deadman. Great song but not our style. In it's place I'm excited to add Enter Sandman by Metallica, as well as Whole Lotta Rosie by ACDC, a couple more Priest tunes, a MSG (if you don't know don't worry about it) tune, & another UFO tune sung by our UFO specialist Jim, WITH ME ON KEYBOARDS!

Should be an interesting time between midnight & 1:30 AM!!!!!!!
So we just got good news & bad news about the 3/27 show. The good news is that we get 25% of the bar tab so a special shout-out to all our alcoholic friends-PLEASE ATTEND!! The bad news (for us) is that instead of playing 9-12 as planned we have to play 9-1:30 to get paid. So we're adding a few songs.

Saturday, February 6, 2010

http://www.archive.org/details/SweetChildOMine_273

OK-So this is an extremely hard song to sing & play, and if I was in my right mind (never accused of being in my right mind) I wouldn't post this til it was perfect. But in the interest of logging our progress between our 1st practice & the show in March, here is Sweet Child O Mine by Guns n Roses, from our 2/7/10 practice, complete with a missed step-down at the end & our discussion & correction. KEEP IN MIND-TINY DICTATION RECORDER.
http://www.archive.org/details/ThePrisoner2

So I'm excited that Jim & I are getting together with his acoustic guitar in a couple of weeks when Steve is out of town to nail down our lead & background harmonies. Maybe I'll post some "Unplugged" sessions. In the meantime, here's a better version of The Prisoner by Iron Maiden from our 2/6/10 practice.

OK, one more, only cuz it has a good Eruption intro, and interesting screams, grunts, & sounds in the break. You Really Got Me.

Metalheads Only!!! Ides of March & Wrathchild by Iron Maiden-2/23/10 practice. Sorry bout the feedback-still working on the practice positioning & sound.

Monday, January 25, 2010

http://www.archive.org/details/AtomicPunk

One more from our 1/23/10 practice, our 4th-Atomic Punk by Van Halen. Sounded perfect live but for some reason the recorder picked up too much guitar flange. Hey-this isn't a perfect science man!
http://www.archive.org/details/ThePrisoner

For you hardcore metalheads, here's The Prisoner by Iron Maiden from our 1/23/10 practice.
http://www.archive.org/details/LoveRemovalMachine
OK-Rumor is that our fans (both of them) are hungry for some more nasty practice audio. Can't imagine why, but here you go-Love Removal Machine by The Cult from our 1/23/10 practice (needs to be sped up but you get the idea).

Saturday, January 23, 2010

Week 4

Had our 4th practice today and we are sounding better and better every time we meet.

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

http://www.archive.org/details/TooHot

OK-One more. This time it's Too Hot to Handle sung by Jim, complete with his terrible British accent introduction, while I get a throat massage.
http://www.archive.org/details/HellBent_285

Here's some more nasty audio from the 1/17/10 practice-"Hell Bent for Leather" by Priest with a couple "Bloodstone" snippets (which we decided to learn & add to the set that day) thrown in.
http://www.archive.org/details/EruptionPartial2_148

More of Steve from 1/17/10 with Eruption partials
http://www.archive.org/details/EruptionPartial1

Here's Steve farting around with parts of Eruption by Van Halen, without any practice.
http://archive.org/details/AintTalkinBoutLove

OK-Here's some more raw audio-this time from after the ugly Charger loss on Sunday (so there's an excuse). Ain't Talkin Bout Love anyone?

Monday, January 11, 2010

http://www.archive.org/details/DirtyDeeds_542

OK-So here my friends from only our second practice on 1/9/10 is the first completely raw, unmixed, unedited, audio-recorded with a small dictation device. Enjoy Dirty Deeds by AC/DC

Sunday, January 10, 2010

1/9/10 Practice-Screaming in Jim's ear, as if the music volume isn't loud enough.
1/9/10 Practice-Either Jim is going for a high note or is just tired of watching my ridiculous moves.
1/9/10 Practice-Frank & Steve pounding it out.
1/9/10 Practice-Black was the color of the day. Songs much tighter than last week-lookin good!
1/9/10 Practice. When we asked Frank to start dressing a bit sexier it didn't go well.

Tuesday, January 5, 2010

Here's our ghetto practice space for the next couple of months.

Monday, January 4, 2010

We need more names. Please sign up here.

All Family & Friends-We are attempting to book a Feb show at one of the local clubs (Second Wind?) and need you to post your name & number of guests (under comments) if you plan on attending the show.

Thanks,

Sanctuary

My fingers are on the mend.

Had a great time jammin' with the guys again. My fingers blistered up for the 1st time in years. Must have been the friction from playing the Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath tunes. Kick ass bass guitar in their songs.

Sunday, January 3, 2010

Blisters, ringing ears, sore backs & throats, but we made it through four hours. First practice in almost 30 years. A week of recovery and personal practice and then round 2. At least 4 of us got to go home and rest-Jim had to go play 4 more hours with his country band-BRUTAL!

Saturday, January 2, 2010

OK-So 1st Sanctuary practice today FINALLY! Playing songs from our early 80's rock era, but trying to talk the guys into a couple of surprises-One current song "Bad Girlfriend" by Theory of a Deadman and best of all-a hard rock thrashing of a classic 80's ballad. More details soon, here & on Facebook.
